Call of Duty Black Ops II crosses $500 million in just one day

Call of Duty Black Ops II was released just a few days ago. Activision announced that the new installment of the CoD raked in more than $500 million in just 24 hours. Last year, record of $400 million was set by Modern Warfare 3.

CEO Activision Publishing, Eric Hirshberg said,

“Call of Duty has become more than a product people buy, it’s become a brand people buy into. And every November we do more than just launch a game, we kick off an annual, unofficial but worldwide phenomenon called Call of Duty season. I want to thank our incredible team at Treyarch for making an amazing game, everyone at Activision for making this brand a force of nature and our retail partners for their unprecedented support of this franchise. But most importantly I want to thank our millions of fans for their continued support and loyalty and for making us better every day.”

Amazon reports that this game was the most pre ordered game of all time, while more than 1 million copies were delivered at GameSpot on day one. More stats about the game will soon be released by Activision. Last year Modern Warfare amassed $775 million in first five days. What do you think, how much will Black Ops II make in its first five days
