Make your browser a notepad

You only use your browser for surfing the internet, checking your emails, facebooking and the list goes on. You can only write in your browser in specific locations. Its like small prisons where the user has the ability to fill them. They can be the address bar, comment sections and other form fields.

This nifty little trick is able to make any browser a “notepad.” You can even save the text written in your new browser notepad by simply pressing CTRL+S or by going to the file menu and saving it from there. Tip by Jose Jesus Perez Aguinaga

How to enable Notepad Feature for your Browser

  1. Open new tab in your browser window. This can be any of the browsers like Mozilla FireFox, IE, Google Chrome, Apple Safari, Opera etc.
  2. Paste the following line of code in the address bar

    data:text/html, <html contenteditable>

    and voila, browser notepad.

This trick is intended for browsers which can understand HTML5 language or modern browsers.
